Thank you messages

Below are some messages of thanks from Community Groups and Citizens to the wonderful volunteers who make things happen in their community.

Mary McAleese - President of Ireland 1998 - 2011

mcaleese_pic_00It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to all those involved in the 2010 National Day of Volunteering.

All over Ireland, volunteers of all ages give of their time and effort to make a difference to a huge variety of worthy causes in their local community or around the world. Their life-enhancing work contributes to the resilience of our communities and makes our society a better place to live.

The National Day of Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for those who are new to volunteering to get involved and to experience for themselves the rewards that come from making a positive difference to the lives of others. I am delighted to congratulate all those who take part and I hope that for many, this will be the start of a richly rewarding volunteering experience.

Is iontach an obair atá ar siúl agaibh go léir. Gura fada buan sibh agus go raibh maith agaibh.

Mary McAleese
President of Ireland

St. Michael's House Templeogue House

It is with heartfelt thanks that I write to express our sincere gratitude to the AVIVA group of volunteers who came to our centre recently to paint and upgrade key activity areas in the centre. Our training centre is one of the biggest in St. Michael’s House Services for Adults and Children with Disabilities and the impact of the work on our service users and staff is very significant. Having a clean and comfortable environment for training and rehabilitation is essential for everyone’s quality of life. We really appreciate the time and effort the group put into the work and this really shows.

As you may be aware we have suffered significant finance cuts in the recent budget so without the help of this enthusiastic group we would not have been in a position to fund the redevelopments ourselves. As you may also be aware our centre is given over in the evenings to the local youth groups, so they have benefited as well from this initiative. We note there was much fun and enthusiasm from everyone involved on the day with lots of laughter and connections that we hope can continue in the future and especially we look forward to the groups returning.

Taking this opportunity to say a very big thanks to a wonderful group of people who represent the very best in corporate community involvement!

ACET Ireland

ACET thanks all our volunteers for their committment to our clients: enriching their lives, supporting them through their challenges, listening to their troubles. Without our volunteers, our impact on people affected by HIV and AIDS would be so diminished. Thanks from the ACET team!

On belhalf of centre users and staff I wish to thank them for the enormous contribution they make. You are much appreciated.

Cllr. Marie Corr - Labour Party

Hi - quick message to thank and encourage all volunteers in the South Dublin County area, volunteers make things happen, things that are important. It is difficult to measure the positive impact in terms of social benefits and economic benefits to South Dublin as a result of voluntary effort but it is plain to see when you see a big clean up going on or a major event such as a big match/event happening in Tallaght Stadium, that many things would not happen without the commitment and selflessness of volunteers in this County. Well done ot all concerned and keep up the good work :-).

Senator Cáit Keane

I would like to pay tribute to the many volunteers who work on behalf of their local community in various areas. Their dedication also helps to inspire others. Without their magnificent contribution Ireland would be a much poorer place.
