Strategic objective 1

THE VOLUNTEERING ENVIRONMENT IS FACILITATED AND SUPPORTED

Volunteering is vital to South Dublin County.

SDCVC will work at a local, regional and national level to establish it as a core feature of a strong, healthy and inclusive community. We know the value of volunteering and the importance of supporting it in a joined-up way.

High level objectives

Continue to build the volunteer infrastructure locally through the development of services such as Garda Vetting, the Volunteer Corps and supports for not-for-profit organisations.
Gather and analyse data about volunteering and barriers to volunteering in South Dublin County so that SDCVC’s work is well targeted.
Develop and use technology to underpin the services offered by SDCVC, to promote their value and to further volunteering.
Continue to work collaboratively and supportively with other VCs in the Dublin area with a view to strengthening volunteering in the region.
Invest in the further development of the national volunteering infrastructure.
Explore and develop new opportunities to work in partnership with current stakeholders and other key interests including statutory organisations.
Participate in the development of public policy that impacts positively on volunteering.

We will know we are making progress

We will know we are making progress on Strategic Objective 1 when we see:

Reductions in the barriers to volunteering.
Volunteering is recognised as a critical element for community cohesion and well-being.
Increase in the capacity of the national, regional and local volunteering infrastructure.
Increased collaboration between key stakeholders resulting in greater benefit to volunteering.
New collaborative projects particularly with a social inclusion focus.
