Building better volunteer roles

A well-written volunteer role description clearly defines a volunteer's purpose and illustrates how they contribute to your organisation's mission. It sets clear expectations and helps streamline the recruitment and selection process by identifying whether someone is a good fit for the role.

When developing a role description, involve any staff who will work directly with the volunteer. Their input can provide valuable insight into day-to-day tasks, the skills required, and the type of training needed to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved.
