Reference Letters at South Dublin Volunteer Centre

At South Dublin Volunteer Centre, we recognise how important a reference can be when you’re applying for a new job or preparing for an interview. We’re glad to confirm your valuable contribution to volunteering.

If you require a character reference/letter of endorsement, etc., you should request it from the organisation you volunteer with (note that not all organisations can respond to such requests).

The Department of Justice has advised us that volunteering confirmation letters do not affect the outcome of an International Protection Application.

We offer Letters of Confirmation of Volunteering in two specific circumstances.

  • A job interview with a potential employer.

  • An official International Protection Application final appeal via the pre-June 2026 “Permission to remain” process

What We Do Not Provide

  • Personal References — we don’t write personal reference letters, unless a team member has worked with you directly and closely over an extended period.

  • Certificates — we don’t issue volunteering certificates.

How to Request a Letter

1. Email info@volunteersouthdublin.ie at least 5 working days in advance.

2. Attach proof of your upcoming job interview or your “right to remain” interview
