Messages of thanks

Below are some messages of thanks from Community Groups and Citizens to the wonderful volunteers who make things happen in their community.

Mary McAleese

President Of Ireland 1998 - 2011
It gives me great pleasure to send my warmest congratulations to all those involved in the 2010 National Day of Volunteering.
All over Ireland, volunteers of all ages give of their time and effort to make a difference to a huge variety of worthy causes in their local community or around the world. Their life-enhancing work contributes to the resilience of our communities and makes our society a better place to live.
The National Day of Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for those who are new to volunteering to get involved and to experience for themselves the rewards that come from making a positive difference to the lives of others. I am delighted to congratulate all those who take part and I hope that for many, this will be the start of a richly rewarding volunteering experience.
Is iontach an obair atá ar siúl agaibh go léir. Gura fada buan sibh agus go raibh maith agaibh.

St. Michaels House

It is with heartfelt thanks that I write to express our sincere gratitude to the AVIVA group of volunteers who came to our centre recently to paint and upgrade key activity areas in the centre. Our training centre is one of the biggest in St. Michael’s House Services for Adults and Children with Disabilities and the impact of the work on our service users and staff is very significant. Having a clean and comfortable environment for training and rehabilitation is essential for everyone’s quality of life. We really appreciate the time and effort the group put into the work and this really shows.

As you may be aware we have suffered significant finance cuts in the recent budget so without the help of this enthusiastic group we would not have been in a position to fund the redevelopments ourselves. As you may also be aware our centre is given over in the evenings to the local youth groups, so they have benefited as well from this initiative. We note there was much fun and enthusiasm from everyone involved on the day with lots of laughter and connections that we hope can continue in the future and especially we look forward to the groups returning.

Taking this opportunity to say a very big thanks to a wonderful group of people who represent the very best in corporate community involvement!

Caring and sharing association

CASA (Caring and Sharing Association) would like to say a big THANK YOU to all its dedicated volunteers. Without all your hard work, we couldn't continue to provide the services that we do.

CASA has almost 500 volunteers spread throughout the country giving their free time every month to help run our much needed services. So thank you again to all our volunteers, keep up the great work!

Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus Ireland

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who give their time, enthusiasm and energy to volunteering for Spina Bifida, Hydrocephalus Ireland.

Many volunteers dedicate their time every year, especially during the summer months, for SHINE - a residential independence training programme for young people with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus nationwide. Keep smiling and keep up the trojan work!

Women's Aid, Ireland

Women's Aid would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers on its National Freephone Helpline (1800 341 900) for their commitment and excellence. We know our Helpline is quite literally a lifeline for women living with domestic violence and the volunteers' contribution to Women's Aid enables us to provide vital information and support to the thousands of women who ring our Helpline each year.
