Latest news Feb 2022

Welcome to the February issue of our newsletter.

February is a month of celebrating St.Brigid’s Day and St.Valentine’s Day. Next year, to celebrate St.Brigid, we will see a public holiday being enjoyed by all.

The end of this month has seen us battle with the Storms!!

Things are getting better so let’s return to getting out and about.  As they say – ‘Sure, there’s a grand stretch in the evenings’

We expect most restrictions to come to an end. Healthcare settings will still require you to wear masks as we must not forget to protect our most vulnerable.

In relation to volunteering, most organisations are now returning to full services, so volunteers will be urgently required.  As always, our website offers the chance to see what’s available, browse the various categories, and register your interest for roles which interest you

You can now book a phone call or arrange a meeting with a member of staff

Celebrating St.Valentine’s Day in South Dublin #lovevolunteering

South Dublin Volunteer Centre joined with other centres nationwide to celebrate volunteering in our counties.  St. Valentines Day became St.Volentines Day.

We surprised volunteers in a local group with a card and a gift to say Thank You.

Ballyroan Meals on Wheels were the recipients this year.  They provide such a vital service in the community. They have been delivering meals before, during and now, after the lockdowns.

Stay Connected – Tell us your stories

As we could not reward all the organisations, groups and individual volunteers, we are asking if you would like to feature an organisation, group or one person in our newsletter – maybe hi-light a person or group who you think deserve some recognition for the volunteering they do, or an organisation who goes above and beyond for others

Tell us your own story!

We will feature all stories received over the coming months in our newsletters

Save the Date – Volunteer Information Workshop

Now you are registered to volunteer, what happens next?  Perhaps you have selected some roles, maybe you’ve already started volunteering?

We now run Information workshops which hi-light how to get started volunteering, find out how to search for roles to suit you, or just come along and enjoy our zoom meeting.

We explain how volunteering improves your health and well-being.  We also have speakers from local organisations letting us know how volunteers have helped their particular organisation.  Members of the volunteer centre are on hand to answer all questions and queries..

So grab your cuppa and join us – book your place below
