We round off National Volunteering week with our final story from Benedict Chukwurah.
Benedict tells us how volunteering at Clondalkin Global Garden has given him an increased sense of purpose and wellbeing.
“Newly resident in Ireland, I registered on I-VOL back in September 2022 and received a follow up call from South Dublin Volunteer Centre. They connected me with Maeve Murphy at Clondalkin Global Garden and with a warm welcome, my volunteering journey began.
I never knew how very important certain simple activities were until I took up a volunteering activity at the Clondalkin Global Garden. For instance, the innate need for every human to belong to something bigger than oneself came to the fore so strongly. The satisfaction that comes from planting, growing and sharing time with others. A true sense of community and belonging.”
