Today is the second day of National Volunteering Week 2023 and we are continuing our celebrations by sharing a second volunteer story which highlights how empowering volunteering can be.

Today’s story is from Patrick Kavanagh who tells us how his volunteering has enriched his own life.

“I have been volunteering with Irish Wheelchair Association in Lucan for about five months now. I think it is so important for our own well-being to keep ourselves active and engaged with the community.

I was very unsure, to begin with, but the staff and members there were lovely and made me feel welcome from the first day. I was given training and lots of support from the staff and supervisor. I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment so far, and I look forward to volunteering with them for many years to come.”
