Welcome to National Volunteering Week 2026. This year’s theme is “From Every Corner, For Every Cause”, which celebrates all the different types of volunteers and volunteering that make up our communities.

Our first story of the week is Flora’s story:

“I am a Foróige volunteer. This organisation has changed my life and made me feel more engaged with Irish society. I truly believe the best way to realise your own value is to help others and be needed by those in need.

Foróige aims to help Irish teenagers deal with life’s challenges and develop themselves. I am a team leader at a Foroige teen club. I never imagined that I would be embraced by so many Irish teenagers.

I am from China and have a different cultural background from all of these kids. Yet, they are interested in making friends with me. We always have interesting chats, watch TikTok, and discuss different topics.

I have also met a lot of volunteers who are the most lovely people in the world. I feel like I’ve finally found my group and my sense of belonging in this country.”
