THE VOLUNTEERING BASE IS BROADENED

We know that volunteering makes a real difference to communities and to the individual volunteers as well as the local organisations that benefit from their contributions.

High level objectives

  1. Increase the quality, range and number of volunteer opportunities.
  2. Build the capacity of VIOs in the County through the provision of opportunities for networking and the further development of their management of volunteers.
  3. Invest in improving and extending the experience of volunteers.
  4. Broaden the range and profile of volunteers.
  5. Strengthen training and capacity building supports forvolunteers and VIOs including customised provision.
  6. Invest in improving and extending the experience of VIOs, increasing their awareness of the contribution that volunteers make to their organisation.
  7. Develop and test innovative approaches so as to widen and diversify the opportunity to volunteer e.g. Super Volunteers, Volunteer Corps.
  8. Investigate models of volunteering that engage private sector organisations with a view to developing and delivering a pilot programme in the SDCVC area.

We will know we are making progress

We will know we are making progress on Strategic Objective 2 when we see:

  • Improved access to volunteering opportunities.
  • Improvement in the quality of the volunteering experience.
  • Greater recognition of the value of volunteering.
  • Increase in the capacity of VIOs.
  • Repeat usage of services and supports by volunteers and VIOs.
  • Increase in the number and profile of organisations using SDCVC services, in particular those with a social inclusion focus.
  • Design and piloting of additional customised resource materials.
