VOLUNTEERING IS UNDERSTOOD, VALUED AND CELEBRATED

We plan to share the knowledge that volunteering is an enriching experience and brings feelings of wellbeing to those who volunteer and to those that involve volunteers in their work. We will ensure that the message of the benefits of volunteering are better known and understood in South Dublin County.

High level objectives

Increase the visibility of the SDCVC through promotion, outreach and the further development of innovative approaches to engage prospective volunteers.
Advocate for and with the volunteering infrastructure, volunteers and VIOs to build awareness of the benefits of volunteering.
Further build SDCVC’s identity and awareness of its particular contribution to the community of South Dublin County.
Represent SDCVC on appropriate local structures positioning it as the voice of volunteering in the County and the primary source of knowledge about volunteering.
Develop and disseminate stories of the positive contribution of volunteering for both volunteers and VIOs.
Tell the story of SDCVC as a key independent organisation in the development of the not-for-profit sector in the County.
Expand the reach of SDCVC so that it is the ‘go to’ organisation for volunteers and VIOs in the County.

We will know we are making progress

We will know we are making progress on Strategic Objective 3 when we see:

Services offered by SDCVC are more widely known, understood and accessed.
Design and/or refinement of promotional materials targeted at specific audiences.
Effective use of social media as a communication tool.
More is known about who volunteers, their contribution and the value and benefit of volunteering.
Greater understanding among public representatives, policy makers and decision makers of the impact of volunteering.
Increased awareness amongst individuals, families and groups about how their skills, interest, talents and education can contribute to their community.
