September 2021 – Volunteering Matters Newsletter

September Newsletter

ALL THE LATEST NEWS FROM
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY VOLUNTEER CENTRE

Welcome to the September issue of our newsletter.

Autumn is well and truly here and the glorious weather of the summer is now fading.

No stretch in the evenings any longer!

Covid 19 is still a part of our lives, but as restrictions ease and we return to a new normal, the face of volunteering is changing again.

We, in the volunteer centre are still working remotely at the moment and we will update you on any changes.

In terms of you, the volunteers, you will see more roles being added back to the website and mobile app.

Organisations are slowly opening up and allowing volunteers back indoors. They have suffered badly during the lockdowns as services were vastly reduced.

All organisations will adhere to HSE guidelines so feel safe in the knowledge that you will be well looked after.

Below is the search button where you can browse and apply for roles

Organisation Story

Connections Arts Centre have active roles on our website and involve volunteers. This is their story

At Connections Arts Centre, we provide accessible online, blended and in-person Arts & Lifestyle programs, where the wider Disability Community can learn, grow, and connect through the Arts. All of our programmes are designed and led based on the needs of the participant and are hosted by experienced facilitators. The Arts have therapeutic value for people with disabilities;  they can encourage self-discovery, emotional growth, and provide emotional and physical integration.

None of this would be possible without the wonderful team of volunteers we have at Connection. Our volunteers work in a variety of positions from Marketing, Business development, to Administration and Facilitating. Let me introduce to you to some of them:

Sagarika has been a Digital Marketing volunteer with Connections. She has helped to developed our website and Social media presence.

Grace is a facilitator with Connections and will run two of our new online Autumn programmes, Creative writing and Black- out Poetry, both starting in October.

Clifford has been working in the background, updating our website to make it more accessible. Antoinette came on board 6 months ago worked both as a Drama Facilitator and in business development.

These people have been instrumental in the development of Connections. Their dedication and commitment is inspirational. They are the backbone of Connections and their volunteering has helped us to connect and support members of the Disability Community from all over Ireland.

If you would like to join the team at Connections and help us to support the team we would love to hear from you. Right now we are looking for people in Administration, Support staff for our online and in person classes, and a project manager for a national Arts project. By volunteering with Connections, you have an opportunity to give back and be part of your Community, by providing vital support that we need to continue to support the Disability Community.
