SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY VOLUNTEER CENTRE
This year – National Volunteering Week takes place from 21st to 27th September. Volunteers have played such a crucial and important community role in the response to COVID19 in our community. We are delighted to be partnering with South Dublin County Council on a Digital Campaign to acknowledge and recognise all of those who volunteered or are still volunteering on the Frontline during COVID19. Send us on the names of your Frontline Volunteers We want to gather and thank ALL of those who have volunteered across our County during COVID19. This will include publishing a roll of honour in local papers and on websites during national volunteering week and also sending personal thank you certificates to all those who volunteered and acknowledging their work – signed by the mayor and CEO of Volunteer Ireland. You can email a list of names to Sharon Crowe sharon@volunteersouthdublin.ie or please click the link below and use the form to fill in the names of those who have volunteered. This is a great way for your organisation to thank those who have volunteered with your organisation on the frontline so please do get involved.
National Volunteer Week – Volunteer Stories Campaign The Covid 19 pandemic hit us in March of this year and presented us with challenges we had never before encountered. The spirit of the Irish people, however, shone through and many stepped up to help out in their community. As part of NVW we would like to highlight the stories of some of those frontline heroes. Each day during National Volunteering Week, we will be highlighting an individual volunteers story from the frontline Is there someone who volunteered within your organisation who would like to share their story? National Volunteering Week Training
A New Volunteering Landscape – Creating New Roles and Adapting Current Roles Tuesday 22 September from 10.30 – 12 As part of national volunteering week – we are running this new training module. This session will cover key issues for volunteer programmes right now such as adapting current roles to fit current circumstances and creating new roles for new demands. We will look at how to manage volunteers offsite, including virtual volunteering and volunteering from home. And crucially, we will look at what organisations need to do to ensure their volunteer programmes can survive during these challenging times. SDCVC is part of the national network of 29 Volunteer Centres affiliated to Volunteer Ireland. Core funding comes from the Department of Rural and Community Development with additional funding from South Dublin County Council.
