South Dublin County Volunteer Centre is thrilled to join the global celebration of International Volunteer Day on the 5th of December! This special day recognises the invaluable contributions of volunteers and organisations who dedicate their time and passion to making a difference.

Volunteers drive positive change—whether by promoting education, reducing inequalities, or protecting the environment, their efforts help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and build a brighter, more inclusive future.

We encourage all volunteer-involving organisations to celebrate your volunteers—send a thank-you message, host an appreciation event, or share their inspiring stories. Don’t forget to recognise the incredible volunteers supporting your centres!

Let’s honour our volunteers and reflect on how we can all contribute to a brighter future!

Please join our last Volunteer Managers Forum Meeting of 2024 on Tuesday, 17 December, from 10 am to 11.30 am

As always it is an opportunity to meet with the volunteer centre team and to connect and share with other volunteer managers in the area.

Staff from our Volunteer Engagement, Organisational Support and Garda Vetting teams will all be in attendance and will look forward to an informal catch-up with you over coffee and pastries. Come along to share any questions you might have, and connect with other managers on your plans for volunteers in 2025!

THRIVE is a program that helps to create and develop meaningful volunteering positions for displaced people. This program aligns with the regular volunteering that your organisation already know but specifically focuses on displaced volunteers. It is a collaboration between the four Dublin volunteer centres.

In this program:

– We’ll explore your organisational needs;

– We’ll share ideas and provide support and guidance tailored to your needs;

– We will provide templates and help you develop inclusive volunteering roles;

– We will promote your roles to a diverse range of volunteers.

Through the THRIVE project, our colleague Sandra is available to offer support with regard to involving displaced people in your organisation.
